May Day Celebration
We'll be dancing at dawn, Tuesday, May 1st, at the outlook closest to the top of the Mongahela Incline, on Mount Washington. Join us to watch the beautiful view of the sunrise from the bluffs of Mount Washington as we welcome in the spring! Participate in the singing and maypole dancing.
Parking is available at the top of the incline (both on-street, or in the nearby paid lot at Shiloh and Virginia). The Incline starts at 5:30 a.m. if you want to ride up to the dance from Station Square. (Incline Information.)
Approximate Schedule:
- 6:00am-sunrise (whenever we declare the sun to be “up” - hopefully it will be obvious!): Singing, morris dancing and toasting the sun up. (Official sunrise is 6:19am)
- 6:30-6:40: May Day cake and general maypole dancing
- 6:40-7:00: More dancing and singing
We may also be doing some guerilla morris after breakfast, so watch out – you never know where we might pop up!
