Corner dance - transcriptions from Ann Arbor, Bacon, Dommett, and Sharp. There was a certain latitude in how this dance was choreographed. Ann Anbor's version is the common sequence done by many American teams.
Notes in Bacon are inconclusive. Ann Arbor says they do:
Here is how Bacon notates the dance:
THE QUEEN'S DELIGHT MB V, p.88, 90
Sequence - OY;FU;DF;WH;DF;HA;DF;WH;DF;BB;DF;WH;DF;HA;DF;WH;DF.
The following shortened version is more often danced
OY;FU;DF;WH;DF;HA;DF;WH;DF;BB;DF;WH;DF
Butterworth's sequence is -
OY;FU;DF;WH or FU;DF;HA;DF;BB;DF;WH;DF;WH or FU·DF
WH - middles go up to music in 1st half, down in 2nd
DF - corners cross:-
1st time - 2 bars ss, 3 bars 4-step, 2HC, 2PC
2nd time - the same
3rd time - 2 bars ss, 5 HC, 2PC (repeated in full version)
4th time - 2 bars ss, l2 PC (repeated in full version)
5th time - 2 bars ss, 2 UC, 1 bar 4-step, 2 HC, 2 PC
6th time - the same
The 3rd and 4th times, the hop of the 2nd ss is omitted, so that it
becomes a sort of cross-footed HC; and 5th and 6th times beat 2 of bar 2
is a jump.
In Butterworth's version the successive cnrs are with 4-step, HC, PC,
DC,UC, UC, the music augmenting for the last three.
(The sequence in this dance seems to have been variable: Sharp was
also given the following:-
(i) OY;FU;DF(4-step);FU;DF(4-step);HA;DF(HC);BB;DF(HC);WH;
DF(PC);WH;DF(PC);WH;DF(UC);WH;DF(UC);WH
(ii) OY;FU;DF(4-step);FU;DF(4-step);HA;DF(HC);WH;DF(HC);BB;
DF(PC);WH;DF(PC);BB;DF(UC);WH;DF(UC);WH)
Last time, all join in last 4 bars - 1 bar 4-step, 1 HC, and 4 PC (or
HC, 2 PC) for Kick-in, odds turning c.cl, evens cl.
Queens Delight - corner movements may or may not be repeated at will back to
place after an intervening figure.
1st chorus - sidestep to right & left, 4 doub1e steps 1/2 caper & 2 plain
capers.
2nd chorus - sidesteps then 5 1/2 capers & 2 plain capers.
3rd chorus - sidesteps then 12 plain capers.
4th chorus - sidesteps then 4 doub1e capers to slow music, 2 double steps a
1/2 caper & 2 plain capers.
5th chorus - sidesteps to right & left, 2 upright capers to slow music, 2
double steps, a 1/2 caper & 2 plain capers. End dance all join in on
quick music at end of 3rd corners with kick-in.
